Today I'm looking for color and shapes in leaves. While there aren't stands of cottonwood or aspen to dazzle the eye, there are some leaves still on trees or lying on the ground that make interesting visual displays.
With the remnants of a recent rain still visible, even the undersides of leaves can be interesting. This one is just blushing around the edges and puts me in the mind of a child's rosey cheeks after they come out of the rain or in from swimming.
Other leaves just seem not to fit in with the crowd. Somehow, amidst all these brightly colored leaves is this one solidly green (until recently) survivor. If you gotta go early, make a string statement.
This leaf reminds us that the canopy provided by the trees serves multiple purposes. One is clearly to help the tree, but another it so feed in insects so that the birds can eat.
This lone leaf has come to rest on the pavement.
