Near the northern end of the Kitsap Peninsula is the small town of Port Gamble. Once a working village, it is today a small town devoted to tourism. There is one street a couple blocks long but it is a delightful place to visit. E and I plan to visit there again soon.
The stores that line the street are interspersed among the houses and, in fact, are mostly in converted houses.
But some houses are still homes for the locals who decorate according to the season.
The remaining homes often serve both a domestic and commercial purpose but all are immaculate on the outside. This one with its many wooden shingles is beautiful but must be a real pain (and expense) to maintain.
Some places carry history along with them. As you can't quite make out on the sign at the front door, this is the oldest still in operation lodge in the state of Washington.
The theater is now the home to not only the theater but also the post office and several other offices. this is well maintained and clearly loved town and deserves a visit.
