A Few Flowers

With petals resembling the curls of wood produced by a woodworkers plane, this flower seems to be casting a demure gaze in my direction. the unopened bud drooping over the side puts me in the mind of a pet sitting on her shoulder.

Sitting on a long stalk that makes it sensitive to every breath of air, this brilliant blossom is only partially in focus. With a background that is well out of focus and the stem hidden behind the petals, it seems to simply hover in mid-air and defy all the expectations of gravity.

Sometimes we find a slightly different angle on things and learn something we did not know before. Sometimes what we learn is simply a new perspective on an old idea.

Like a bullhorn used to tell the world about something vital for our existence, we see this blossom jutting out from the mouth-like stem to shout at us. I know what it says to me. What does it say to you?
