Sunrise, Sunset

Because I am posting this several days after the fact and I'm a poor note keeper with I'm photographing, the morning and evening have all run together on me. Some of these are shot in the morning and some in the evening so there is no coherent theme today. Just restful images.

The shot above and below are sunrise looking across the sound to the north shore of Bainbridge Island. The combination of the morning light and the autumn color makes for a bit of interest against the background of dark green conifers.

Here are a few images neat sunset that I took with a long exposure to smooth out the water. Since there is no foreground object to grab your interest, I tried to use what was under the water as a bit of foreground. It doesn't work exceptionally well, but it does work.

Without the shoreline to help, this is more of a minimalist view of the sound rather than a proper landscape with points of interest fore and aft.

It seems to be often the case that when we manage to see light at sunrise or sunset, it is because the clouds do not quite reach the horizon. Thus, this long exposure image does have a little of the fading sun as we look west to another portion of the Kitsap Peninsula. Smoothing the water draws your attention to the reflected sunlight, not the choppy water surface. Not a great image, but a moody scene that's worth a quick look.
