Grand Canyon West - II


You will excuse me for failing to properly crop the photo above and the next one. Mea culpa. But you get the idea. Interestingly, the formation you are looking at is not on the main flow of the river, rather on a small local tributary.
And this tributary is, as you can see below, dry at the moment.


At the time of our visit, the Colorado was getting pretty low. However, if you look closely, you can just manage to see the river at the bottom of the next image.


Because this is a well controlled reservation, there are no trails or tracks to be seen in the sand on the far side of the river. It is possible to get a helicopter ride through this portion of the canyon (lots to ways here to separate you from your money), but nothing , it seems, to do on the ground.
