Crossing the Pilchuck

Typically, my afternoon photo walks take me in various directions on the crown of the hill that is residential Snohomish. Yesterday and today the blog is about a walk in a very different direction. I walked east (more or less) down the hill toward the Pilchuck river and (a little) beyond. In this direction, things change rapidly and the homes get much smaller, less well cared for, and, in some cases, simply empty.

But once past the poorer side of town, you come to the metal framework bridge across the Pilchuck that is typical of the sorts of bridges one finds hereabouts.

Just for fun, here's a photo looking up along the main support of the bridge.

From the bridge we see the river below, sparkling in the afternoon sun. As you can see, the waster level is quite low this time of year after a dry summer. In the spring (I'll try to remember to visit again then) it will be surging along with a full load.

Yesterday you saw some flowers from a local flower farm. This hoise below is across the street from that farm. Could be that the flower farmers live here, I don't know.

In any case, of the neighbors have a curious piece of "art" (and I use the terms loosely) on one of the fence posts around their property.
