While I am quite sure that the spring time with green fields and blossoming flowers has a totally different appeal, in the August harvest time, this is a place dominated by color and texture.
The freshly plowed fields show off the dark richness of the soil.
The freshly harvested fields remind me of a closely clipped hedge. The undulations and imperfections are still there but the smooth exterior of the evenly cut wheat gives it a freshness and smoothness that belies the underlying terrain.
In places where the legumes have been harvested, the color variation is more extreme, ranging from bright green to a browner shade of ripeness. Even here it looks as if it would feel soft if I could touch it.
