On what appeared to be a bright sunny day, we decided to head out to the beach. Since it was Anna's Birthday and she wanted to get out of the house for a little while, we headed to Mukilteo where is a modest but nice beach/public park.
Naturally, as we drove along, we could see the sunshine and, in the distance ahead of us, the Olympic Mountains with their covering of snow.
But once we started down the hill toward the shoreline, we drove down into the marine layer and by the time we got to the water the fog was so think that we could not see mountains, sun, or really much of anything. You'll notice in the image below that you have to look a bit to figure out where the horizon might be.
Like most beaches in the PNW, this is one has lots of rocks, both small and large, along with a healthy scattering of trees that have washed ashore.
Some of the trees are old and gnarly, showing their age and weathering with distinct growth patterns now filled with moss.
