The epiphyte outcropping on this tree is filled with these small green moss fronds that always put me in the mind of the breathing apparatus seen on nudibranchs. Every time I see this, I wonder if the shapes are related.
The winter version of the flowers on this tree appear to be pods. I'll try to get here in the spring for an image of the precursor to this curious production.
This tree is covered with a red bark that splits and curls in places all over. It creates a striking display. No doubt this is the attraction of this tree for planting in a one's lawn.
