You can tell that this is a rocky beach, not one of those sissy beaches all covered in sand like you find in warm places. This one is for those stout folks among us. If you get far enough from the water's edge, there is some coarse sand, but not much.
Below, you can see some of this coarse sand below the tree section lying on it.
The train line runs through Edmonds and Mukilteo right along the shore. No doubt this is the result of the tracks being laid long after the shore line was settled and there was no way to move the people out of the way. This train coming through the fog of the marine layer was a unit train hauling oil tankers.
