So, here we are, headed south. We've passed through the rain and clouds of Washington and Oregon and finally descended from the south side of the mountains that keep all the water to the north. Finally, some blue sky here in California. And in the clear air, we see Mt. Shasta.
Atop the mountain is a cap cloud shading the peak. Below the cap is a jumble of clouds revealing the turbulence near the surface of the mountain.
This mountain, standing at 14,179 ft, is at the southern end of the Cascade range. It is southernmost (potentially) active volcano and the second highest mountain in the Cascades. From here south it is all California all the way. Stay tuned.
