Leaving Winthrop, we drove south along the Methow river. Not far out of town we passed this idyllic lake with this stand of aspens showing the first signs of spring. I was drawn to the slender white trunks and the light green leaves.
This is a place so calm and serene that I could easily imagine living here. The problem is that I'd hate to mar the scene with a house. Maybe I could just camp here or something.
Farther south, the Methow joins the Columbia. As we neared Chelan, we found that the river valley opened up and, in the dead calm, the river gave us delightful reflections of the surrounding structures and hills.
Hwy 97 crosse the river near Chelan via the Beebe Bridge (apparently named for our late cat). There is a nice park here where we stopped to stretch our legs.
The community aside the river makes a great reflection.
I thought the tall utility poles at the river's edge make interesting reflections as well. The pink-ish color of the hills combine with the greens of the trees to create a softened world on the water's surface.
We ended our motorized promenade along the Columbia with a view of this lone tree at the water's edge. After this came driving for a while. We stopped in Leavenworth at Safeway for a sandwich for lunch and then over the Cascades to Snohomish and home.
Thus ends our adventure to New Mexico and back. There and back again. Next up on the blog is a bit of time in Snohomish while I walked about the neighborhood. Stay tuned for a bit of laid back looking while we rest up for more adventures.
