Much to our surprise and pleasure, we found a great horned owl perched in a tree just on the shoulder of the road. Naturally, I had to stop and see what sorts of photos I might be able to make.
I mean, it is not every day that you get a chance in full daylight to photograph and owl of any sort.
His dozing was interspersed with short intervals of scratching. No doubt there are various vermin hiding amongst those feathers.
But, he had a stare that would stop a train. When he looked at me I knew I was being watched.
