On one of the endlessly beautiful days in this part of Oregon, we drove up in to the Elkhorn Mountains to see what we could see. From the overlook above, we can look back across Baker City toward the east to see the Wallowa Mountains. It is easy to see from this vantage why people wanted to settle this broad green plain.
At the high elevations (above 6,000 ft) there is still snow to be seen and many side roads and tails are still closed.
But the waters flow down the steams and over the rocks.
The endlessly entertaining splash and foam of icy waters captivate as they tumble toward the valley and the people and cows that live there.
