Although we returned from our tour of the west a little late in the spring to enjoy the peak of the blossoms, there are plenty of plants still going strong.
Even some of the blooms that have fallen to the ground are perky enough to make a nice image. The contrast of the ground and the totally spent flowers in the background make an interesting contrast with the freshly fallen.
The bushes are still full of bloom and where two different types overlap, we get the treat of an explosion of color.
Sometimes even the small details on the flowers can make an image. I like the way it is possible to find little hairs (or whatever they are called) growing along the flower and its stem.
But the prize is finding a delicate flower hanging demurely in the shade.
