We made another stop at the eagle's nest by the shore to see what we could see. On this trip we got to see mom quite well, but the kids are pretty elusive.
It is quite possible that the youngins have fledged and are out and about.
Regardless, mom is content to rest in the empty nest for a while (a condition that most moms savor from time to time) and just chill.
Perhaps this is secure feeling place to be. I would think that sitting on the pile of sticks, even if it is lined with feathers or grass or something, would be much less comfortable that simply being perched on a proper limb. Maybe mom is just a little chilly and likes the warm nest. We were chilly too. I mean, after all we are in the PNW and it is always cool here.
I trust that the recent heatwave has not altered your excursions. Apparently, the Pacific Northwest is not always cool! Loved the pictures.
