A Stay-at-Home Easter

Dilly and I watched the kids while the yard was filled with eggs and a stuffed toy or two for the easter ritual of finding things lying out in plain sight and getting excited about it. Except, of course, Charlie was totally nonplussed by the whole idea.

There was a toy basketball placed on top of the arch at the front gate and Anna lifted Seamus up to get it.

This yellow egg required a superhuman effort on Seamus' part to reach so high.

Surprisingly, this one in a neighboring tree and much lower, also required a excessive stretch.

Once all the goodies were found, we gathered on the sidewalk out front to pose for the obligatory family portraits.

Even the old folks joined in the game.

But my favorite is this one. Charlie looks like an old woman standing in her garden looking at something the squirrels or birds just did to damage here beautiful flowers and she is thinking of ways to get revenge. Seamus is smiling the smile of a big brother who is in charge of his world.

And we, watching, are taking in the joy of a sunny Easter day with family. Could it get any better than this?

Finally, we have our good friend Bethany who is living with us. Not only does she help lighten the burden of daycare-at-home while she waits until she can resume the work related to her graduate studies, she lead us through the passover seder and helps make the isolation feel a little less intense just by being another human with whom we have contact.

Happy Easter to all.
