Seasonal Changes

This broken limb, standing out as an open wound is slowly be healed over by the moss and lichen growing around it. Perhaps this sort of thing is where we get the expression of "time heals all wounds". Perhaps not.

Even a small portion of a broken twig is filled with interesting color variations and textures.

Just like last year (and for years beyond measure before that), there are trees that begin to produce buds this time of year. It seemed to me that with a bit of perspective provided by a finite depth of field, we could imagine this deep time process and how the current generation fits in to the bigger scheme.

Along with the new growth on the trees, there is the continuation of existing things closer to the ground. Some places flourish regardless of the season, some are quite picky and need just the right conditions. Thus is the symphony of life.
