Sunshine and a Few flowers

With the return of the sun, we get poppies visited by busy bees. I'm glad the bees are not affected by the coronavirus and can continue working away. There are already many threats to their lives and they certainly don't need another one. While a bee's life is a hard one, at least they get to work outdoors in a beautifully appointed and colored "cubicle" often scented quite sweetly. That's more than most of us can say.

We had a little warm sunshine and things are looking much better than the previous couple days with all the fog and rain.

One of our neighbors has growing strawberries out by the sidewalk so I stopped to take a few shots. I like this one with the contrast between ripe and unripe fruit.

Life is filled with this same kind of contrast between ripe and unripe ideas. Most ideas are not yet ready for prime time. But many do eventually mature and are ready for implementation. Just as the plant needs fertile soil and sunshine to grow its fruit, we need encouragement and the right environment to bring our ideas forth. I could go on with this analogy, but you get the idea (it was it's time, you see).

I especially like the luminance and texture of this iris backlit in the afternoon sun.

This foxglove reminds me of the carnivorous flower, Audrey II, in the little shop of horrors. This pouty mouth bloom with its sly grin gives me a bit of the creeps, especially since this plant is so thoroughly toxic.
All parts of the foxglove are poisonous to humans, dogs, cats and horses. The National Capital Poison Center (NCPC) warns against planting foxgloves where children and pets may have access to any part of the plant, including the flowers and seeds.
Isn't is nice to know that this fine specimen is planted about 2 feet from the sidewalk just down the street?
