Flowers and Colors

After lots of eagles and herons eating fish, I thought you'd enjoy a few days of color from local places in Snohomish. These are some of the flowers from around our neighborhood in the spring of '24.

B&W Retrospective: Raindrops on Plants

As is often the case in life, one must stop sometimes and reflect on the past to determine how best to proceed with the business of living. The same is true in photography. Today we will look back into the recent past to gather some images for collective inspection. This retrospective considers that "into each life, some rain must fall." With luck, it can also be pleasing to the eye.

Sunshine and a Few flowers

With the return of the sun, we get poppies visited by busy bees. I'm glad the bees are not affected by the coronavirus and can continue working away. There are already many threats to their lives and they certainly don't need another one. While a bee's life is a hard one, at least they get to work outdoors in a beautifully appointed and colored "cubicle" often scented quite sweetly. That's more than most of us can say.

Back in the dark ages of 2010 when we lived in Virginia and covid wasn't even a twinkle in father coronavirus' eye, I spent some time one afternoon, chasing bees and moths around the heather near our back door. While these are not amazing photos, they are at least a reminder of happier days without isolation, lost jobs, disease, and the widespread loss of loved ones.

Local Flowers Again

I don't know about life where you live, but we are still in isolation until the end of May (at least). While some businesses are starting back and a selected state parks are opening soon, for the most part life continues the same.

Flowers are Blooming

Today we learned that later this week it may well get to 80 F! Oh. My. God. We are going to melt into little puddles of soylent green and flow into Puget Sound. How will we survive it simply not being cold any longer?

In celebration of this record breaking (no, really!) heat wave that is coming our way, here some flowers I found in the greenhouses of the local nursery.

In between rain showers, we ventured out to one of the many nurseries in the area. This one, Flower World, has a large covered area filled with all sorts of flowers. I thought this would be a good place to test out the 10-24 mm lens on the X-H1 and see what I get.

Spring Is On the Way

We are settling into the pace of life here in Seattle and noticing that it rains a lot. I know this is a shock to all of you, but it really does rain pretty regularly...like everyday! I have seen that the sky is blue in spots but cannot attest personally to the probability that the entire sky is all blue at once.

Brisbane Botanic Garden

Earlier, we visited the Botanic Garden in the City of Brisbane. It is located on the river surrounded by the CBD. There is a larger one at Mt Coot-Tha.

Spring Bluff

Just a ways north of Toowoomba is a small, old train station that has been converted to a cafe. The grounds around it are filled with flowers in bloom.

Laurel Bank Park - Spring has Arrived!

Spring is making an appearance finally! At the Laurel Bank Park, not far from the Grand Central shopping center in central Toowoomba, we find lots of sunshine and flowers.
