This is fun stretch of beach in large part because this is a marine reserve and lots of scuba divers come here to dive and visit with the underwater bits. They were certainly out on this day (although you don't see any in the photos here).
Sometimes, at low tide we can see a shell of a living animal or the remains of a dead one.
Here, I found a leaf from the seaweed lying stretched on the sand. This looks very much like the kinds of impressions one see in fossils that show such things. Seeing this makes it easier to imagine how such a fossil could come to be.
There are also shells to be found. E spent time looking for good ones, but came up empty handed... nothing particularly special to be found.
I'm always amazed by the people who show up here. While admiring this bright orange creature, a fellow who seemed to know quite a lot about sea life told us that this is a sea cucumber. He had a good command of what was usual or unusual and was perfectly happy to touch the critter to see if it was alive and responsive. However, I'm not in the category of people who will touch these beasties. I'll leave them be if they will pay me the same courtesy. I'm content to just look.
