Into the Rainforest

On our first outing during the lockdown, we drove out to a tiny place called Verlot. Today we went that way again, drove farther and did it without rain. As a result, we've got a little glimpse of what it is like to live in a rainforest.

The Mt. Loop Road, winds it way long the Stillaguamish River. As a result, there are several places where a stream flows into the river and must cross (under) the road. Here is one of the small ones I could see from the roadside.

The campgrounds are still closed, although the picnic areas and hiking trails are open. We stopped by one of the closed gates at the entrance to a camping area and found these large trees all covered with a thick layer of moss and lichen.

Tomorrow, I'll show you more of what we saw on our little adventure.
