Along First Street

In a typical month of May, the Seattle area will get about 7 days that reach 70 F. This year we got 2 so far. It has continued to rain like crazy. Today, we had some sunshine and the temperature got up near 60 F. The grandkids decided it was hot so Charlie took off all her clothes (which she often does no matter the temp) and Seamus got out the water hose and sprayed her. She loved it. Lots of playing the puddles.

I read in the news that many places elsewhere in the lower 48 are seeing temperatures at or above 90 F. Rest assured that this is not happening here.

I saw Seth mowing out yard the other day while wearing long pants. I told him he is violating the unwritten Seattle law which requires all lawn mowing to be done in short pants regardless of the weather/temperature. He agreed that it was a serious infraction but hoped that maybe no one would see him just this once.

As the sun slowly creeps back into our lives with more exposure between clouds and slightly warmer days, the garden that the (big) kids have planted in the verge between the sidewalk and the street is starting to grow. There are several raised beds in which they have started to plant for the summer. The potatoes are going gangbusters.
