There are many things here with briars. Perhaps the most common thing are the endless stretches of wild blackberries found alongside the roads and rivers... any place untended really. This briar does not seem to be blackberry (though I could be wrong), nor rose. Rather it is some other concoction of nature designed to flay open your skin at the merest touch. even though it seems to be dead, it is still deadly. Do you suppose the red tips on the barbs is the remains of the blood of the most recent victim?
