In places that are colder and/or windier, we tend to find lots of plants that hug the ground to stay out of the breeze to be warmer. The combination of a colder climate here with the natural desire folks have for some nice flowers to fill in the open spaces in their gardens, and you get lots of small blooms near the ground in our neighborhood.
Blue and white seem to tbe the two most popular color for these wee blooms. I'm not sure if this is because this is what people like or if this is what nature offers as options.
The gray-green of these beauties below make a striking flower to contrast with the foliage behind it.
In contrast, this bush presents a bold and colorful flower with the sexy bits just standing out there for al the world (and insects) to see.
