Other Sorts of Hydrophobic Leaves

Surely, among the multitudes of natural philosophers that have existed in last 2500 years or so, some much as looked at the water drops on plants wondered with this happens on some and not others.

One of the most hydrophobic plants in this part of the world is St. John's wort. I can always get fun and interesting droplet images on these plants. In addition it is also possible to get some great symmetries with the leaves.

We don't often stop to look at the details of a plant and the profusion of water drops give ne a good reason to look at the boring parts of bushes.

Even here, I find fascinating vistas of water and greenery. I like to imagine that the red veins are rivers flowing through an alien place and the water drops are perhaps constructed structures of some bizzare life in this place. perhaps whole civilizations exist in the spaces between water drops and we are totally unknown in this milieu. Scale is everything when studying nature. Where it is biology, chemistry, or physics, the explanations change with the scale you choose for your inspection. I love looking closely to see new things and think new thoughts.
