Baker City Chinese Cemetery

Just on the east side of the interstate highway (with Baker City on the west) lies the Chinese Cemetery. You will see below a couple photos of handmade signs that give a surprising amount of detail about the place and the people in it. I'll say at his point that it is unlike any other cemetery we've visited. Very few stone marker to view. I think they are all photographed here (both of them).

It is located across Windmill Road from the Oregon State Police office and a grocery of some sort. As you saw in some of the downtown photos, the ever present Elkhorn mountains are in the background. Except that there is some noise from I-84, this is not a bad place to spend eternity.

As you can see, the graveyard is filled with tumbleweed and scrub brush. Except for the path, there is no place to walk.

Here is one of the informative signs. I recommend reading it. Enlarge the photo on the screen if needed. I found the shrine really interesting.

As far as I could tell, this is the other stone marker of any sort in the cemetery.

And the second sign tells about the Chinese people who worked and lived here. Quite interesting.
