Just down the road a few miles from Dead Horse Point is the Island in the Sky portion of the Canyonland National Park. This park is unusual in that the four sections of the park are not connected to one another. You have to leave the park to get to any of the other parts.
As at Dead Horse, we see below us roads that take the more adventurous out into the loneliness and silence.
"How does one get down there", you may well ask. Well, here's one way off the tall stone island from which I am viewing. Fun, eh? Fan of the no-guardrail-path-to-enlightenment?
The views here are of the same sort as you've seen earlier, but the character is different. We are a bit closer to the canyon and it feels like more of presence.
If you look carefully, you can see there are, in fact, people enjoying the solitude of the drive across the canyon down below.
