More Birds from the Bosque

The Northern Shovelers are having a bit of a nep here near midday. Perched in shallow water where they feel safe, they hide their beak and snooze away.

Meanwhile, the Black-necked Stilts are busy. Some looking for food, others looking for a mate.

There was a quite animated dispute going on among this group of stilts. It is hard to image getting this riled up about a patch of water, so I'm guessing that this is about who gets to claim one of the local ladies.

Even after landing the struggle continues. Survival of the fittest and all that.
