Although we are at the bottom of a narrow canyon formed by vertical walls of stone, there is something comforting about being snug here, protected from the wind and, often, the sun.
While I'm sure it is quite hot here in the summer, it was pleasantly warm for us.
There were many places where the scale of the canyon walls left us in awe of the forces that sculpt this place.
There is a kind of poetry in the way the shapes appear and disappear as we drive round the corners of the winding road. Southern Utah is filled with these red rock wonders. After this we head north to explore some very different places.
