The Canyon formed by the Green River

On along the road a ways, we come to a different canyon. This one was formed by the Green River flowing into the Colorado.

There is much more greenery here than at the other overlooks. And we see a wide, flat canyon where the river is not really visible at all down in its gorge somewhere out there.

Beyond the sparse bushes along the edge of the canyon, this is an empty space. There aren't even any mesas here. Must be a softer composition of stone that has worn away more uniformly.

You can also tell that the composition has changed from that of the former views because the rock is not as red and there are large sections of much lighter rock, especially out near where the current course of the river lies.

This landscape is really beautiful and alien. No doubt, part of the attraction is the otherness of this place. We all like to see things we've never seen before.
