A Stop in Old Town Before Hitting the Road

Our exit from Bernalillo was a short day. We decided to break our trip In Gallup on a couple hours west on I-40. Thus, our first stop on the way was Old Town for a cup of coffee and a chai. As well some looking at the shops, of course.

Lots of small details to to take in while walking about this mostly empty tourist attraction. The New Mexican style is colorful and almost always makes me smile.

the coffee shop we found was down an alley and one of the shops along the way had this particolored bench out front to entice us in.

These plants (some kind of yucca?) growing in the alley add just the right amount of color and chaos to the view of the neighboring building.

And there are flowering trees here to entice the birds and the bees. It also worked on us. We had a sit in the warm sun (after a winter in Seattle this was most welcome) and sipped our warm drinks and just enjoyed.

Next stop: Gallup.
