All it takes is a wee bit of sun to push us out the door to look for some shore birds. We took a drive back to the Salt Creek Recreation Area and Tongue Point to see who was at home. While it was no one new, I did get a few new looks at a few old friends. One of the stars of today post is the Black Oystercatcher above.
There were several of these roaming about the beach. This image with small bits of sunlight on the sea foam behind the bird make a nice composition.
This shot with the oystercatcher and the remains of a couple bright purple urchins brightens up this view of the beach littered with oyster and mussel shells.
But the oystercatcher is not the only visitor on the beach today. We also have the Black Turnstone. Here's a pair wandering among the well littered beach.
A bit better view of this small bird. To find these on the beach, ou have to really look for motion. The colors all blend together amazingly well.
But the start this day is the oystercatcher. While standing in the sun with a few drops of sea spray on his feathers, he makes a find portrait.
