As you see, my daily quest for the perfect mass/lichen image continues (and will continue). Today's offering is better than the one yesterday but is still not one for the portfolio.
What appears to be a rose is putting out buds and new growth in anticipation of the spring.
It is easy to see where the holiday color scheme comes from when studying the bushes in the winter.
Sometimes, even in death, the remains of the fruit production (more red berry kinds of things) has a symmetry and elegance to it. Wonder why there are five petals and not some other number? Could it be that our alien ancestors were 5-legged and we've strayed from the perfection of the plants by losing one? Or, maybe these are more like the fingers on one hand. In either case, being on a stem with tons of prickly barbs is discouraging me from exploring further.
