A visit back to 3 Crabs Rd in Dungeness and we find an enclave of American Widgeons having fun in the sun by the water.
As is often the case, the female is the more plain of the two.
From this angle the male appears to have the darker head. But you can also see that the has more variation on his body.
And when the light catches they right, you can see that the male is, in fact, green headed. In this light, with the mirror-like reflection in the water, we get a good look at the two of them.
They were busy taking turns grooming themselves so I had a hard time catching them both with their head up where you can see them.
Although the backlight makes it hard to see lots of detail, this is good view of the pair.
