3 Crabs Road - New Birds

Another visit to 3 Crabs Road while the sun is shining led us to something besides the ubiquitous widgeons. Leading off this day is the Double Crested Cormorant. After a swim, they stand in the sun (a tough proposition this time of year) and dry their wings.

The prize of the visit is this Red Shouldered Hawk. He was out looking for lunch. When he spread his wings to fly from his perch atop a stump, I was there to catch him.

Meanwhile, on another post is the ever present seagull.

The hawk moved to a new perch and we drove around to different spot to get a better look. Fortunately, the sun was at my back so we could get a good look.

He looks like he's posing for a slick magazine photoshoot. It is easy to imagine Benedict Cumberbatch in this setting selling some sort of perfume.
