A Visit to Langley, Whidbey Island

We finally screwed our courage to the sticking point and made an overnight trip. We drove to Whidbey Island. Even though the drive and ferry ride only took about an hour, it was good to get out of sight of the house for a little while. Sitting in one place for 6 months is not in character for us these days and the change was refreshing.

The tractor above the pond below are located near the town of Langley on the southern end of the island.

There are also strange plants here, at least strange to me.

But in town there are lots of interesting sort of houses and lawn decorations. This place has a front gate that seemed with a photo.

In the town center is a kind of general store. in the grocery portion, we find lots of organic fruits and veg and lots of high end snacks.

Clearly, someone is taking their time to stack the apples and place the bananas.

But the place that I found repose was next door at the cafe where I could get a suitably sanitized, socially distanced cappuccino.

All orders were taken at the window with masks adorning everyone. Food is delivered to the table and then you fetch it after the staff have disappeared back inside. All good.
