Phalarope and Sparrow

Another commonly found bird on this trip is the red necked phalarope. these are neat and prim little birds that can be found in bodies of water of most any size from the large roadside puddle on up.

This time we found him on a larger pond just off the road.

In the late day morning sun (remember, the sun is never very high in the sky here), there is always interesting light shining on this fellows. His reflection really adds to the composition.

We also found a golden crowned sparrow that would sign for us. If you look carefully, you can see the bright yellow spot on his head just peeping over the edge of the black mask above his eyes.
