It is still surprising to find logs washed up on a beach here and find that it had been basically ripped out of the ground by the roots.
With a long exposure we begin to see the world in a different way. Where is the sea active and frothy and where is calm...questions we can answer once we see it this way.
When we add the colors back in, it looks in some ways even more curious. The strange lighting of the clouds and the dull metallic color of the water in between the frothy bits.
Down the road a little ways (maybe a 10 minute walk although we drove to keep the children interested) is the trail to Second beach. There are such interesting names for places here. Along this trail are trees, stumps, and ferns galore.
Some of these stumps seem to be ripped from the pages of a story book.
