A Couple Birds from the Nome Trip

I thought I'd bring you some more birds from my Nome trip. With all the travel this year I have plenty of variety to bring to the blog. Since travel down times leads to lots of repetitive sorts of photos of flowers and such. Enjoy the senseless switching from place to place while you can.

Above is another image of a willow ptarmigan. These birds like to perch on clumps of willow not far from the road, so it was fairly easy see them.

We stopped along a river and found a semipalmated sandpiper.

With a group of photographers will large lenses hanging about, it is understandable that this little guy would be running around a lot.

Over by the river, there seems to be a search for edible things in progress.

These are small birds that when usually seen, it is from a distance and you can't tell much about them. However, when seen up close, they are handsome creatures with their neck cravats of black and white.
