There are three cemeteries (at least) in Angels Camp. Our first stop is the Catholic cemetery.
There are lots of Italians here. The older gravestones usually tell us that the resident was born in Italy.
It also appears that there are some soldiers from the Civil War buried here.
This fellow lived a pretty long live but still ended with a simple wooden cross and an even ruder stone marker. Perhaps this is how he wanted it. Perhaps this is all a poor man could afford.
There are many here that are natives of this small town. But, like other places on frontiers, folks died young after what were, no doubt, hard lives.
As usual, some died in childhood.
And others barely got a chance to start their lives.
