Sonoma is not a large town (pop. ~11,000), but it is the largest place near Angels Camp. Today, we'll have a short walk along main street but a few miles away is a nice big, modern shopping center with all a modern family might need.
But downtown there are lots of buildings dating from gold rush days to early in the 20th century.
A few are even newer. All have perfectly modern residents and are doing a brisk business.
Main street is always very busy with traffic nearly bumper to bumper in both directions all day long. We've never been here when it wasn't a hopping place.
