As is the case everywhere in nature, new life grows at the expense of the old.
Sections of the loop trail in the portion of the forest are one boardwalks to protect the tree roots.
Just to let you know that something grows here besides really big trees. We found some orchids growing near the trail.
To get the foreground fern in the photo, I could not get the entire tree in the image. I recommend a stop here on your way through the gold country.
