Columbia State Park

Not far from us is the remains of the gold rush town of Columbia. It was designated a state park in 1945 by Governor Earl Warren. There are nearly 30 buildings here and it is all open for free. There is food and drinks mixed in with the souvenirs and educational displays. There are horse drawn coach rides through town and events are planned (once covid is gone).

The shady, tree lined streets make a place that is fun to stoll and explore.

The Wells Fargo building is filled with items appropriate to era.

It is not hard to imagine this place filled with people shipping and being shipped to.

Cases and trunks galore. The safe is open and ready for a bag or two of gold that it no doubt were stored in it.

Across the street is a clothing store. I'm quite sure that it sells things now that the gold miners never imagined.
