After recent views of cemeteries and small towns, It seems like a good time to show you a little of the countryside around us. Nearly every where is carpeted with golden brown grass. Grass that grew to seed and is now without water.
Trees here are spaced out to give everyone access to the deep water that keeps them green year round. Sometimes, there are large open spaces and we find a tree on the edge of the populated area.
Some of the trees are old and gnarly. Others are millenials and well-shaped.
All the fields are fenced, some with new wire, many with old. the clear blue skies and spacious fields give these rolling hills a sense of emptiness and freedom. I'm sure that is part of what draws people here.
These trees are drought resistant (they'd have to be to survive) and long lived. Some are centuries old.
They provide a spot of shade and interest to the field. The cows appreciate it and so do I.
