Sierra Nevada Logging Museum

East of Murphys, the next town is Arnold. Just past Arnold is the Big Trees State Park we've visited a couple months ago. But in Arnold is the Sierra Nevada Logging Museum. Here we find exhibits covering all aspects of getting trees turned into lumber.

More Big Trees

As is the case everywhere in nature, new life grows at the expense of the old. 

Calaveras Big Trees State Park

Near the town of Arnold is the Calaveras Big Trees State Park. This is one of the several locations scattered along the Sierra Nevadas where sequoia are still found and thriving.

As you can see above, there are (in this case, were) some really enormous trees. I'm told that the stump was at one time used for a dance floor.
