The Church and Cemetery in Dron

We are housesitting in the Manse and, of course, immediately next door is the church and cemetery. the weather finally got to be good enough that we no longer had an excuse to put off a visit.

As we have found in other cemeteries, there are interestingly carved stones standing here.

The most unusual stone here is that of a congregationalist minister.

The backside gives a few more details of this life.

Certainly, this is a unique church to visit. It is very close to being in complete ruins. There are holes in the roof and the inside is a shambles. We were told that someone bought it to restore it and ran out of money.

So it sits.

It really seems that someone, with a bit of money, would really get the good out of such a place. I mean, how cool would it be to have a cemetery for a yard?!

Once you enter the front door (carefully, mind you) there are stone stairs leading to what was a balcony or organ loft, sadly now gone.

From this higher vantage, we see a large space with windows mostly intact. This could a great residence.Too bad no one has taken up the challenge.
