Wheat Fields in South Australia
Heading south along the Augusta Highway (A1), we passed seemingly endless fields of harvested wheat. The shades of golden brown contrasts with the bright blue sky to make a very restful and pleasant scene.
South Australia is ahead of all the other states in Australia in adopting renewable energy and this can be seen in the line of wind turbines on the distant hill.
Speaking with someone at a restaurant near here, I commented on the strong winds blowing. I was told that "yeah, the wind blows really hard for the next several months and then it gets hot." Like it wasn't already uncomfortably warm and windy.
Just because we are in an area where wheat grows doesn't mean we don't still have salt lakes about. Here we see salt flats in the middle of wheat fields.
Looks like the wheat grows right up to the edge of the salt lake.
It is a beautiful area. Not heavily populated either. We drove for a couple hours toward Adelaide and saw little traffic, fewer houses, and tons of golden fields.
