Lake Hart
As we drove south of Coober Pedy, we came across some more salt lakes. The first one we encountered was one we could walk right out on. This is Lake Hart.
What you don't see in these photos are the intensely aggravating flies that swarm your face and head. But in the millisecond between flies trying to get up you nose or in your mouth, it is a pretty grand sight.
Here's a panorama of about half the lake so you can get a feeling for what this place really looks like.
We had an appropriately cloudy sky making for a nice composition above the very flat plane of the lake.
And just to accentuate the sky a bit more, here's a view in portrait orientation. These salt lakes are quite impressive in the scale and emptiness.
