Birds Among the Willows and More

Sometimes the birds choose to perch on a part of the bush that is nicer than simply the bare limb. On this occasion, this savanna sparrow treated us with a pose on one of the open willow blooms.

This common redpoll was caught in the act of alighting on this willow branch.

This one is in a more pensive mood apparently. Most likely pondering the meaning of life or the significance of the number 42 so some such.

And then ... he realized that I was watching and gave me the stink-eye.

This fellow appears to have had a tough night out... feathers all fluffy an unkempt. Must be a juvenal still figuring out life.

Finally, we have a redpoll in a more typical pose, just acting all independant and all.

At some distance from the road, we spied a short-eared owl staring at us. He did not remain there for long and better photos were not possible.

Here is a long-tailed duck sitting calmly on the water enjoying a bit of sunshine.
